Meet our attorneys
Daniel Karlsson serves as Gate City Legal Services, Inc.'s Executive Managing Director and Advisor to the Immigration and Criminal Defense Advocacy team.
Attorney Karlsson earned his B.A. in History and his Masters degree in Women's & Gender Studies from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He then earned his J.D. from Elon University School of Law in 2016. While attending Elon, he was an active participant in the Elon University Humanitarian Immigration Clinic, and interned with the Office of the Public Defender of Guilford County.
Attorney Karlsson has been a resident of the Triad area for over 20 years. He believes strongly in the building of and support of the community, by the community. As a practicing attorney in the Triad, he is armed with the tools which allow him to assist in making this community more just, and can give back to the community by helping those members who are often the most in need.
Lauren Jeffries is proud to serve as Gate City Legal Services, Inc.'s Executive Financial Director and Advisor to the Family law and Consumer protection advocacy team.
Attorney Jeffries earned her B.A. in Theatre from the University of North Carolina at Asheville, and then earned her J.D. from Elon University School of Law in 2010.
After graduating from law school, she spent several years working for Legal Aid of North Carolina, Inc., where she provided legal advice, counsel, assistance, and representation to the indigent, the elderly, victims of domestic violence, and victims of consumer fraud and the foreclosure housing crisis. Following several years of service at Legal Aid of North Carolina, Inc. Attorney Jeffries worked with Brooks, Pierce, McLendon, Humphrey, and Leonard providing litigation and e-discovery support for complex business litigation clients. In 2016, Attorney Jeffries became the founding partner of Jeffries Law, PLLC, a private law firm focused in Family, Criminal, and Immigration law.
When she is not practicing law, Attorney Jeffries enjoys spending time with her family and four rescue animals.
Sharon E. Dunmore
Sharon E. Dunmore serves as an Associate Trial Attorney and Advocate for Gate City Legal Services, in the areas of Criminal Defense, Immigration, and Family Law. Attorney Dunmore practices law in the North Carolina state court, as well as the Executive Office of Immigration Review Charlotte Immigration Court.
Originally from Brooklyn, New York, Attorney Dunmore arrived in North Carolina in 2010. She is a 2013 graduate of Guilford College, with Bachelors Degrees in Criminal Justice and Anthropology.
Attorney Dunmore subsequently attended Elon University School of Law, and graduated in 2016. During law school, she was actively involved in the Elon University Humanitarian Immigration Law Clinic, where she successfully led a service trip to an immigrant family detention center in Karnes, Texas. Attorney Dunmore also served on the Trial Advocacy Board for Elon Law’s Mock Trial competition team. During law school, she maintained internships at immigration firms, as well as the Office of the Guilford County Public Defender.
Attorney Dunmore strives to put 110% into each and every client, and to help them better understand their legal process and know that their voices will be heard.
